Slip n Slide Shower Mod

One of the annoying things that has taken me so long to correct is the slipping and sliding shower handle. Every time we use it, the shower handle slides down the pole like a slick pole dancer. Today, I decided to try to correct this problem as I have been avoiding it because I had no idea how it came apart. Anyway I said enough is enough and if it breaks it breaks. Turned out to be one of the simplest mods since the fan blade swap.

Unlike the swivel adjustment for the rotation of the handle, there is no tightening adjustment for the pole slide .
Took a small screwdriver and started probing around to see how the cap came off. Turned out it just slides out with a little help.

Once the cap was off it was easy to see how the assembly fastened to the wall. Just two square drive screwes took it off. The ends just slid off the pole and then the holder just slid off the pole. There is just a small rubber foot that is sitting in a recess. I just took an old milk jug and cut a small chim to put under the rubber foot.

Put it back together and what an amazing difference.
Time will tell how long this little mod will last but at least for now it seems to be OK.

Great idea, and thanks for the pictures! Those of us who are not as mechanically inclined are sometimes left in the dark by the explanations only.

Thanks for the reminder and the fix, ours did the same thing. Until I just went out and fixed it, VERY easy to do...
