Jensen TV
We have the Jensen 12 volt TV in our bedroom and have been having trouble getting it to find channels on the antennae. Our main tv in the living room seems to find the channels but the Jensen doesn't find anything when I do a search. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks
Michael

We too have the Jenson 12 volt in the bedroom. Hasn't woorked right since new. It's on our list of things to address when Hannah goes in for warranty repairs. Ours will scan and find channels and then drop out while watching it. Not a pixelating problem-the picture just goes blank-all learned channels.

Depending on the quality of the tuner, the two TV's will be able to receive a different number of channels or in fringe areas the one with the best tuner may get channels and the other can't get anything. This question was brought up to the Winegard Rep at the Rally and the difference in tuners was the most likely answer to your problem.

One time that the Jensen actually found channels, the front TV didn't but once I tuned them in manually they were fine. Right now we have very clear channels on the front TV and absolutely nothing on the Jensen.

Silly Question, but when you are doing the auto search function on the Jensen, are you sure you are searching on-air and not cable (there are two different settings)? We have had no problems with the Jensen. The other thing to check is that the antenna amplifier is switched on, this is on the plate where the Jensen plugs in and is indicated to be on by a green light. Hope this helps.

Not a silly question but; yes it is searching on antennae and the amplifier is on. As I mentioned the front Tv is working fine on the antenna.

Does the antenna amplifier also work on 12v?

The amplifier is 12V. The other weak link in all of these units are the cable connections on the units coax wiring. You may want to pull the plate for the Jensen and double-check the coax connection on the back of the plate. There have been many reported problems with the coax connectors.

Do check the cable connections behind the antenna plate. Mine worked fine, then went bonkers. Pulled the plate and all the connections were loose. Not disconnected, just loose. No problems since.

Thanks for troubleshooting tip, that would certainly explain it occasionally working, I'll check the connections.
Thanks

Our Jensen works fine. Our Monty has a splitter at the main TV location. This splitter sends the signal to the bedroom TV. Mine was loose once and upon tightening, the bedroom TV worked fine again. If your Monty has this splitter, check the connection.

Ours would turn off intermitently until I found that the 12v plug didn't seat quite right into the outlet. I had to bend the ears out a bit and now it works fine. I get better channel selection off the Jensen than the Samsung in the living area. Good picture on the Jensen also.

Checked the connections behind the antennae plate and one was loose, tightened it up, but still no luck finding anything. We will see what happens when we get into more populated areas where there are more channels and stronger signals. It is on my list to have checked when I take the 5er in for warrantee work. Thanks for the help.

You might want to try connecting the Jenson to the coax at the other TV that is working well. If the feed to the Jenson has a damaged cable, possibly a screw or staple through it from manufacturing, the signal would be degraded. If damage is after the splitter it wouldn't affect the other TV. Can't remember if the Jenson had a 110VAC to 12VDC adapter so you could plug it into AC at the other location.

Thanks, already tried that, but that did give me an idea, I can run some coax from the splitter on the inside and hook it up directly to the tv, which will bipass all the internal coax.
Thanks
Michael
