electric jacks not working

Having trouble with 2009 Montana 5th wheel electric jacks. Motor labouring under load - tests boarder line. Manual switch does not work. 30 amp fuse pops when under load. Breakers are fine. Batteries not an issue, plugged in. Jacks will work for few seconds with remote and then cut out. Have RV techs baffled. Any suggestions

I would check each leg for proper lubrication. Remove the top cap on each leg and manually inspect for grease.

Hi

Welcome to the Lippert nightmare.

I had the same problem.

Lippert uses #12 wire to run the manual switches for all appliances when you are not using the remote. The only appliance that the manufacturer doesn’t recommend using #10 wire is the electric awning.

Then Keystone installs only one 20-amp inline fuse to protect the receiver and all of the manual switches.

When I contacted Lippert about this they had no comment and could not help me.

I removed the Lippert remote receiver unit and replaced it with a fuse block from NAPA and fused all of my applications that were wired thru the remote receiver with the fuse sizes recommended by the manufacturer of each item. I did not do away with the inline fuse that Keystone installed, that is the power supply lead to my fuse block and is #10 wire.

This fixed my problem. Have now used the unit numerous times and have not tripped any circuit breakers or blown any fuses.

The advice from H. John Kohl is also very good. I have not performed the lubrication of the front jacks but have lubricated the rear stabilizers with Anti-Size.
