Pullrite pros and cons

I just purchase a 05 2980RL and would like suggestion on fifth wheel hitch. I have a 2015 Ford f250 crew cab w/6.2liter gas engine. The Pullrite superglide 2700 is what I was interested in. Any pros or cons on this hitch or other suggestion would be appreciated
TIA Larryb31

I bought the B&W 18K patriot slider. So far I love it. I don't have the puck system, so went with the in bed rails. $816 delivered from SD truck springs

I have the super slide on my short bed Ram. Works flawlessly and automatically moves trailer away from cab when turning tight. Hitch is very robust and strong. Minimal maintenance required

The bad......Very heavy. But no tools required for removal from bed.
Truck needs to be lined up fairly square and level with trailer pin to connect.

I have a F250 shortbed and the Pullrite 2700. Love the hitch. Had it for a couple of years with not one problem.....works flawlessly!! I have the under bed mount on my Ford. Pull 4 pins and the hitch comes out. I know it is heavy but I just pull the hitch head and remove that for storage and leave the other part in the truck with a cover on it.

I HAD a Pullrite Superslide in my short bed RAM. It worked great except:
1) It took up almost the entire rear of the bed.
2) If you ever planned on turning as sharp an angle as advertised like I did a few times the part of the pinbox that hangs low in the bed swings 90 deg with the trailer and hit my bed rails.
3) It renders both sides of the rear of the bed unless for anything that might contact the pinbox when you're making a sharp turn.
4) If you have a Morryde pinbox on your trailer you will need a special capture plate that will restrict the side to side cushion of the Morryde.

I sold it and installed a 5th Airborn Sidewinder pinbox and a Demco Recon hitch in the bed. I can take out the hitch myself (90 lbs) without using the chain fall pulley like with the Pullrite.

Sidewinder works great

We love our Pullrite. It is built very well and was built to handle the weight. Nothing like not having to worry about the back of the truck. Really, probably don’t need an auto slider, but why not?
Pro’s: convenience, secure latching mechanism, total piece of mind
Con’s: heavy, no height adjustment, requires capture plate, and cannot unhook or hook up on an angle.
I would purchase again, but for me, since B&W makes the best hitches in the world, IMOO, I would have to look at their slider, but it’s manual. Good luck on deciding.

I had that same issue, and it turns out it isn't the pin box but is actually the part of the trailer that the pin box attaches to. I clipped the corners of the trailer brackets that the pin box attaches to. This is the photo of what I removed.

I have a Demco autoslide and love it! I originally had it in my 2500 Ram with the Rambox in the back which narrowed the width of my truck bed a little. I never hit the sides (it was close) or the cab. I had rails in that truck. Now I've got an F350 with the pucks and all I had to do was swap 2 side-rails on the hitch and it now works perfect in the Ford. The Demco has 3 height adjustments in addition to the height adjustment with the trailer's king pin so I had a number of options to help me tow level. It is VERY STOUT (aka HEAVY) to be sure, but it is solid and great for our purposes. I have the roto-flex king pin which caused me to get different capture rails for the hitch, but no big deal. I went with the Demco because of the ability to adjust my height since I wanted a hitch I could keep regardless of what truck I'm using. (Figured the hitch would outlast my truck since I seem to swap them out periodically!)

We've had the Pullrite for 6 of our years full timing. Gotten into all sorts of tight spots and never a problem. If I had to buy agian it would be another Pullrite. The Pullrite rep will be at the annual rally again this year.

I have had a Pullrite slider since 2006!!! (two actually) I have gotten in tight places (state park that I thought was a loop) and was able to turn pretty much at a 90 degree angle with the trailer. My front bumper was brushing the undergrowth along the road!!! I think I can do a U turn with about 5 lanes of street.

i had to cut end off pin box because it hit the top of bed rails also. worked fine in 06 gmc but newer box taller and no adjustment for height. i have an engine host to load and remove so no problem with weight....have to be pretty much inline to couple capture jaws. had since 06 works well

I have a Pullrite and am very satisfied except for one thing. You must be precisely in line with the trailer when hooking up or disconnecting. The dog on the capture plate will prohibit connection or disconnect otherwise. This may be the same with any slide hitch, I dont know. With a non slide hitch you can hook up at any angle to your trailer. Had I not already had a short bed truck I would have bought a long bed rig and not had the problem. I can't immagine why no one else has brought up this problem.

I have a Pullrite super glide on my Ram truck. Have to set the trailer brakes to 10 (the highest setting) to prevent back and forth banging when stopping and then accelerating. Did the adjustment thing according to the manul. Wrote Pullrite, and they said it takes about 5000 miles of pulling for a break in period, as I have to adjust it after every pull due to this break in period. To keep it from banging back and forth.

In my experience they still bang a little bit. It's the nature of a moving part and how it works. It will break in some. I just purchased a new 20k Superglide to go with the new trailer on order. (hitch literally showed up this last Saturday.) I shall see how noisy this one is soon enough. My old one was pretty worn out but still worked great, just noisy if I didn't have enough grease in it. Not sure I like the idea of WD40 as a lube.

I have a Pullrite 4400 hitch that we have used for three years now. It is a bit fussy getting hooked up. You have to be dead on the pin to have a successful hook up. If you are off center one way or the other you will get the hitch going to one side as if you are turning. That can be a problem getting it loose to try again. It has to be almost perfectly level in order to get a successful hook up. unhooking you have to take the weight off the hitch and back into the pin in order to release the locking pin on the hitch

Once you are hooked up it is a wonderful hitch and does everything it is advertised it will do. I have a friend who had one and there was a time he had to take the hitch head out of his truck and push it onto the pin by hand in order to get hooked up. He was on un-level ground and could not get the hitch to lock onto the pin.

If I had it to do over again I would go with the B&W Patriot hitch.
