My aerial video blog

As some of you know I purchased a drone earlier this year and have made a few videos over the summer and still working on more. Last week I started a blog and if you would like to check them out feel free. I will be adding more as time goes on. Enjoy

I'm interested in this so I decided to look at what the FAA requires for operation. Looks extensive.

Wife just bought me one for Christmas. Can't wait to start taking pic and video of camping. Looks like a whole bunch of fun.

Enjoyed the video's, it certainly takes some practice to shoot and produce a nice finished product. I am curious as to what you are using for a drone. I have the CGO2+ with 1080p camera rather than the 4K. I also wonder what your range was approximately as you flew down the lake.

I also use Filmora to edit the film and it appears you may also be using that software.

Thanks for sharing.

I have a Phantom 3 Advanced. I have had it out 1 1/2 miles. I too use Filmora as an editor for now.

Looks like fun ... when I started flying many many years ago you could buy a real plane for $2K.

Rich, What drone do you have and what is the air time per charge? Thinking of getting one!

Hi Ron, I have a Phantom 3 Advanced and the air time is about 23 minutes per battery at full charge, and about 1 1/2 miles out with a range extender. The more batteries the better because once you start you just can't stop. It is an addition. And by the way I just posted a few more videos.

Well, I finally had the guts to look at this, after I realized your subject was "arial" video. When I first saw your topic, I didn't realize I had shrunk the text on my Windows computer by accident. All I will hint is that the word arial kinda ran together and I could not see the dot over the I. If you can imagine it, the resulting word was nothing I was interested in taking a peek at.

When I finally fixed my screen's text, I am glad I can now read it right and the results are very nice. And so was the accompanying music. I have not seen ALL your videos yet, but I will. It's nice to see and hear of someone doing something constructive with their drone and not being a nuisance. Nice work.

Papabeav... thanks for changing the spelling in your topic. There's no confusing the subject matter now. I am enjoying your drone videos. I think you have picked up a nice hobby. I am so impressed by the clarity of the high def videos.

For those who have never been there, the Winchester Bay video has a terrific view of the Winchester Bay RV Park.

Enjoyed the videos. We are from Eugene Oregon, so the coastal videos are very interesting. Good job!

That sounds limiting on the surface, but if you look at Part 107, it has the following:

CHAPTER 4.PART 107 SUBPART A, GENERAL 4.1
Applicability.
This chapter provides guidance regarding the applicability of part 107 to civil small UA operations conducted within the NAS. However, part 107 does not apply to the following:
1.Model aircraft that are operated in accordance with Part 101 Subpart E, Model Aircraft), which applies to model aircraft meeting all of the following criteria:
•The aircraft is flown strictly for hobby or recreational use;
•The aircraft is operated in accordance with a community-based set of safety guidelines and within the programming of a nationwide community-based organization;
•The aircraft is limited to not more than 55 pounds unless otherwise certified through a design, construction, inspection, flight test, and operational safety program administered by a community-based organization;
•The aircraft is operated in a manner that does not interfere with and gives way to any manned aircraft;
•When flown within 5 miles of an airport, the operator of the aircraft provides the airport operator and the airport air traffic control (ATC) tower (when an air traffic facility is located at the airport) with prior notice of the operation;
•The aircraft is capable of sustained flight in the atmosphere; and
•The aircraft is flown within Visual
Line of Sight (VLOS) of the person operating
the aircraft.

This takes the under 55 lb., line of sight operated ones out of the licensing requirements. This was publicized back when the FAA started having to get into drone operation due to them interfering with no-fly zones and airport areas.

Wait until a drone has a mid air with a real airplane. The FAA will go crazy, the rules/regs will be off the scale and the operator will have to have a Class II physical.
