Converter Function

Have a buddy who has a 'Colorado'5th and he suspects that his converter has failed. How do you go about checking the converter for proper operation. He says he has checked the CB's and believes that the his 12V stuff is working off the battery only, even when plugged in to shore power. Thanks.

If his converter isn't working his battery would soon go dead. Check the voltage at the battery, it should be 13.2 or higher when plugged into shore power

With the RV plugged in to shore power, disconnect the battery. If the converter is working your 12v lights should work. While the battery still disconnected, use a meter and read the voltage on the battery leads.
