Does anyone have an easy fix for our doorbell that never worked? We bought our 2001 2880RL used so don't know if it worked before we bought it! Thanks for any help! Mike

Doorbell? I do believe the previous owner added the doorbell. I know of no Montana with a factory doorbell.

Try changing the battery, there is one in the outside unit and one in the inside unit unless you have the inside unit that is 120 Volts, then you will only have a battery in the outside box that the button in on, we have to replace ours every sping, And yes Glenn it is a add on from Wally World. My 1999 came from the factory with a doorbell. It quit working at some point but I didn't worry about it until recently when we thought about selling the rig. I discovered it's operated by one 12 volt MN21/23 type battery in the outdoor housing and three D cell 1.5 volt batteries in the inside portion of the unit. When I popped the inside cover I also discovered they were corroded and the mounting clips were toast.

Thanks Roman! I'll check for a battery on the outside button- it didn't look like I could get it open there but will give it a closer look! Mike

My 2000 3555 RL has a dorebell but I think the grandkids wore it out. Seriously, it hasn't worked for a couple years or...maybe noone has come to visit.
I'll have to check those batteries.

What, no doorbell on the newer units? Perhaps it was eliminated in a cost cutting move in order to hold down the newer MSRP prices to just a little more than twice what they were in 1999.

You can buy a battery operated doorbell. They sell them for RV's and mobile homes. There is one is my parents mobile home and I put one in the mobile home I had in New York many long years ago. Of course if you have 12V close by that is what most doorbells are anyway. Not sure I want to add that to my long Honey Do list.

I told my wife I was going to add a doorbell and she just laughted and said "Why, nobody every comes and visits us anyway." When we were out the last week at Yakama Nation RV we had a visitor...so...You need to be careful with the remote doorbells because I understand some of them will make your cell phone ring. We were visiting some friends in their Montana who had just installed one...and it made their cell phone ring, I could hardly believe it, but I heard it.

We have a wireless doorbell that, for no reason we can figure, rings every now and then. We go to the door and greet the invisible person. It tells us it's working....like a smoke alarm test.

My 2001 has a doorbell, it was in the package that was ordered. It is shown in the 2001 brochure. Ours did not work when we bought it so I tried changing batteries first, but that didn't work either. So we bought a wireless unit from Lowe's. I figured we had to keep up with the Jones' and keep the doorbell....

Our 2000 3255RL came from the factory with a doorbell. It didn't work at first when we bought the Monty previously enjoyed, but we changed batteries and it works fine now. But, other wireless doorbells will set it off. We were parked next to Chaser at the rally in Mt. Shasta. They were on the show and tell tour and every time someone rang their doorbell ours rang too. So, other wireless devices set them off, and rain getting in the outside button will set it off also.

If the batteries don't fix it, you could always replace it with one of those wireless ones (Carol Wright Gifts, etc) where the ringer part just plugs into an A/C outlet. Of course it wouldn't work if you're not powered up.

We have a 2001 with the door bell. I think they realized they were junk and stopped using them. The circut board would get water in them and short out. Replaced it once. In order to stay with the cosmetics of the outside wall I took the cover off and filled it with silacone, then replaced it. It would leave a rust trail otherwise.
