Windows "LOGO" Short cuts from WayneM.

The following was provided by WayneM.

AAwww! I love teaching computers. Duh! What's a computer?
Really, if I were going to be there I would be so glad to help out. So, since I cannot be there here are some shortcuts.

When you want to go to a web site, you don't have to type (example) http://www.yahoo.com, or www.yahoo.com, or yahoo.com. All you have to do is type yahoo and hold the Ctrl down and the Enter key. You can do that for any domain ending in .com.

Do you all see that little "Windows Meta Key," (Also called Logo Key) on your keyboard? for most it is situation on a desktop between the Ctrl key and the Alt key. For lap tops it can be in different positions. Mine is up in the top right portion of the keyboard.

Here is what you can do with it.

Windows Key + Tab: Cycle through the buttons in the Task Bar.

Windows logo Windows Key + D: Minimize or restore all windows

Windows logo Windows Key + E: Launch Windows Explorer

Windows logo Windows Key + F: Launch Search for Files

Windows logo Windows Key + Ctrl + F: Launch Search for Computers

Windows logo Windows Key + F1: Launch the Help and Support Center

Windows logo Windows Key + R: Launch the Run dialog box

Windows logo Windows Key + Pause/Break: Launch System Properties dialog box

Windows logo Windows Key + M: Minimizes all open windows.

Windows logo Windows Key + Shift + M: Undo minimize all windows

Windows logo Windows Key + L: Locks the workstation

Windows logo Windows Key + U: Launch the Utility Manager

Windows logo Windows Key + Ctrl + Tab: According to Microsoft: Moves focus from
Start, to the Quick Launch toolbar, to the system tray.

What it does in XP Is it moves through the tabs in your current application (Firefox, IE, other applications that have tabs)
=======================

So there's my help for your class.

Having worked for NASA as a computer security specialist for many years, if you have any questions, give a 'holla!
