Peter & Terry,
I believe all cabinetry in RV's have what in the industry is know as a (Blow & Go) lacquer finish. Not often done well, but is treated none the less.
I think everyone pretty much uses what you would on the kitchen cupboard at home, some sort of good polish/cleaner.
Right after we got our Montana in 05' I didn't like the roughness at the joints, so I took them down, lightly sanded then to a smooth finish, (which did remove the orig. finish), and then added a little bit of stain where I "over sanded", and put on three coats of a waterborne satin urethane. They look very nice, I don't have to use a polish, and when I dust them,...no snags!
Now, not everyone has that kind of time, but it was something I felt I just had to do, so did. But like I said before, using a good furniture polish should keep your existing finish in good shape. Good luck.
