norcold fridge question

Okay, I did a search for fridge board replacement in archives and it gave me zero hits. No help what so ever... I know I have read of an moc member or two replacing their control board with one from dinosaur. When we arrived at coffee creek rv today, the fridge displayed 88 and controls are wacky. We had it set to 8 due to the 90 plus temps in texas. When I change it I get double numbers. Fridge started acting strange in its ability to hold a temp like normal...one day 34, next 40, then back to 36. So easy to see I need a new control board since display is funky and only way to switch between ac and propane is to go outside an pull the plug. Satisfied with dino board, price? John

I'll be interested as well. Mine acting similar, but display is ok. Talked to retired RV repair shop owner and he thought I needed a board as well.

So after doing some digging I found out that a whole host of norcold fridges post 2006 use new style board #628661 and this is not listed on dinosaur electronics website. So I am going to use this board ($126 not including shipping) to restore functionality to my fridge. If it doesn't last that long, then it's on to the samsung residential. John

Update- got the new board, installed right after getting to harvest moon in adairsville. Display back to normal, fridge currently running at 35f and steady. Will see how it reacts over the next few days. Took me half an hour to swap out old one and turn fridge back on. John

I live in Florida, when I summer camp I set the refrigerator to 5 or 6 at most. If I set it to 8 everything would freeze. Do you have refrigerator cooling fans to help with exhausting the hot air?

Yes, the fridge has two at the top that push hot out. I am going to relocate the temp switch for the fans off of the fins and lower down on tube where temps will be higher so fans will come on earlier and run longer. Last time I did tests on the temperature coming out of the top vent, it was 128-132f. We used to run at five, even when we stayed in sw florida for 18 months straight and fridge temps would run between 31-36 after I redid the air flow metal work per norcold specs. Then it started this wild temp swings, then the display went wacko and took away all control except on/off. John

I am envious. My Norcold model 2118 won't get below 40. Here is an article about the refrigeration system.

A am going to try installing additional fans.
