FL Keys and Ft. Myers Area

We're planning a trip for next August in the Keys and along the gulf coast. Are there any campgrounds that will/CAN take a 40 ft rig? We'd rather get MOC advice than just the ads, we've discovered that just because they say "big rigs welcome" doesn't mean you can actually get one in and parked, LOL. Any suggestions? Sue and Verle

I'm going to Curry Hammock State Park in November. I don't think a 40 foot rig would be any problem and the rates are only about $30 a day on the water in Marathon Key. Take a look at it on ReserveAmerica.com.

We stayed in Sunshine Key RV Resort just south of Marathon Key at the south end of the 7 mile bridge in February, nice, WiFi and cable. 40' no problem. Bahia Honda State Park is just south of there (closest one to Key West) and Curry Hammock just north of Marathon are less expensive but are often full. Check out at reserveamerica.com
If you're in the pandhandle, Topsail state park just east of Destin was one of the nicest state parks we have stayed in. Size no problem.
