New full-timers through the winter!
Hello everyone! My husband and I are enjoying our first RV: a Montana 5th wheel. We are full-timing in Virginia Beach. This will be our first experience in an RV during the winter months. Any recommendations on preparing our RV to avoid freezing pipes?

As to being ready for winter....1) Heated water hose will prevent your supply line from freezing. 2) Keep the furnace running as it sends warm air to the underneath area around the holding tanks.
So far this winter has been really nice for us in the southeast so keep your fingers crossed it stays this way!

Welcome to the MOC. The best way to avoid frozen pipes is to go to The Valley in South Texas or to Florida!!! Just kiddin'

Welcome to the forum! We use a heated water hose and set our furnace at 60 when we are using a little electric heater at night. We like it cool at night and use lots of covers. As the temperature drops outside to the point where the little heater can't hold it at 60 it's getting cold enough outside we want the furnace to come on and warm the pipes as well as the rig. Do not leave the water run as a substitute for a heated water hose. You have to open your sewer valve and that little trickle of water will freeze up your sewer hose.

Welcome to the MOC. If you use the "search" option in the top right hand corner you can pull up old and new posts containing information about staying in colder temps. You will probably find that much of your preparation depends on what range of cold temps you will be facing, 50-30 degree average, 30-20 degree average, or consistently below 20 degrees?

Welcome from Arozina. We are not full timers only live in the Montana for about 7 to 8 months a year. Winter in Lake Havasu City Az in our stick house. It's been getting to a bit below 32 degrees a couple of days so I leave the heater at 50 so nothing freezes.
