tail light out

I was flagged down and told my right side stop light was out ... had checked it out as ok before leaving as I always do. I could not get it to work. I took out the bulb and put it in the left side and it worked. I am assuming my 16 year old socket is worn out. I took the full fixture apart and the socket is replaceable, just spin nut connected. Anyone know where I can get a socket?
Thanks
Dennis

Try these folks: http://www.trekwood.com/parts-search...23+%2F+Keyword
On line they only go back to 2004, but calling them may produce some better results.

Did you use a volt meter to make sure you actually had voltage to the pin(s) in the socket? Could be a wiring problem.

Or you can go to etrailer.com and get sealed led tail light assemblies that are much brighter and safer. They aren't that costly. John

On my 2000 or 2005 Montana's can't remember which ... the tail lights were stock Chevy pickup assys that you can buy at auto parts stores.
Fuse would be in your truck wiring and if it were out ... neither RH nor LH brake lights would work.

catskinner ... all my Montana's have had a galvanized junction box under / behind the pinbox. The 7 pin pigtail goes in and connects to the trailer wiring with twist caps. It's just that ... a junction box ... no fuses.

Check the pigtail. The connectors on the pigtail and or the truck may be dirty, a little sandpaper will clean them up. Blow them clean, then see it your light works.

If you decide to replace the light assembly, these were recommended by a Montana owner here on the MOC.
