The Quiet Side of the Smokies, Tremont, One of our favorite places to camp near Gatlinburg.
Lots of great places over in Pigeon Forge too, if you are willing to put up with the traffic and commontion. And, lets be serious, it is fun at least one time to do that.
We went down last fall with our 3295, and had little trouble getting sites that will hold your unit. Look around, the campgrounds will be filled with big rigs.
Would suggest you call and make a reservation, you CANNOT sleep at the Wall Mart there, it is outlawed and the fine is $500.00. You are talking Labor Day, it might be hard to get a site. Course, we never go in without reservations anymore with the big rig. (Our call, specially with the 4 yorks)
There is even at least one campground in Wears Valley these days, although I am not sure they came in from Townsend side. That hairpin turn would scare the willies out of me, it is tight, the road is rather narrow and the dropoff is long and straight down.
Have a great trip!! A great place to spend some time.
