Picking Up Our Montana on SATURDAY!

Well, we did it! After a lot of research and checking, we bought a 2006 Montana FW, Model 2955RL and we're picking it up on Saturday.

We are upgrading from a 1976 Widerness TT and are VERY excited.

Reservations are made at a local county park to camp over Labor Day weekend.

Jan & Jim, Congratulations are in order. You will find the Montana a nice way to rekindle the joys of camping life. Now comes the learning curve from going to a TT to a fifth wheel. Most say once they have a 5'er they wouldn't go back to a TT. I have always had 5th wheels. So I have no idea on all the differences. But I do know they pull real nice and are a lot easier to back into a tight camp site.

Congratulations on you Montana! It seems quite a few new owners are picking up their units this Saturday!

We moved on up to Montana from a 1997 Prowler, and if you like the changes half as much as Marsha and I, then you are in for a real treat!

Fordzilla makes a good point about towing/backing differences, and if you have not backed a 5er before, you might want to practice some before going to the campground. I will say, however, that for me, the TT backs easier. I have heard others say much the same. When I took the old Prowler to where the new owner wanted it last week, I found it much easier to put the unit EXACTLY where I wanted it.

We upgraded from another 5th wheel but before that we had a trailer. There is no comparison and we love our 2955. It is perfect for us and the way we plan to travel.

I'm excited for you. It has only been 4.5 months since we got ours so the memory is still fresh. Enjoy every minute with it.

Well folks, thanks for all the congratulations. This unit sure looks a lot bigger sitting in our driveway than it did at the dealers!

Everyone one who has seen it has loved it and we can't wait to go camping in 2 wks.

Only concern so far is the noisy water pump and I picked up some GREAT info about that from other messages. We did end up with a ladder bick rack instead of a bumper one (since we don't have a bumper) and I'll be int'd to see how well that works. I was surprised to see the bikes mount upside down!

We'll keep you posted!

Conratulations on the new unit. We just picked up our new 3295rk last friday and went from the dealer straight to a county park on the lake. We thought we were in heaven. Planning another weekend trip for labor day. Your right, ours looks huge in the driveway. They look little on the dealers lot. Probably going to be pouring more concrete before long.

Happy Camping

Congratulations on the new unit. As you have commented there are things that will help the water pump. Search the topics, ask questions and get more information than you can ever believe. This is a great family.
Good luck and tow safe.
