Slide Mechanism Lube?

Just wondering what you all use to lube the rack gears on the slides Mine are hydraulic.. but there are gears on it. They came new.. rusty.. no lube on them.. Possibly delivered during the winter from Indiana over salted roads.

Anyhow.. what do you recommend. I can use axle grease.. which I'd guess would be wonderful as a lube and as a dirt keeper. Also, Teflon type dry lube or ??

Any kind of dry lube is preferred for the reason you stated, you don't want it to attract dirt. There are dry lube products specifically made for the slide mechanisms which is what we use.

I use a silicon based dry lube. Do not use any kind of wet lube like WD-40 or any kind of grease since these can attract dirt and make things worse.

We use a product called slip plate...same as I use on my pull rite slider hitch...seems to work really nice...and the sound is much quieter....it's a dry lube of course...goes on like spray paint....

I use a dry lube with PTFE I buy at Home Depot. Sprays on wet but quickly dries leaving a dry white residue on the surfaces, the PTFE I suppose.
