Our Military Folks
Just wonder how many forum members have folks in the military. My grandson is just finishing his first week of Coast Guard boot camp in Camp May, New Jersey. I am so proud of him for joining up. Just as I am proud of all the young folks doing their duty in the mid east. I am longing for the day that they all return home to their families. I just hope after the vote in Iraq tomorrow that things will begin to settle down, but having lived in Iran for three years about the time the Shah Palahvi was de throned, I just think that things will get worse. But I hope I am very wrong.

Smoketrain and I are both active duty AF. He's been in for 12 years and I have been in for 9. We have run into a few folks in the forum who are retired military. We always appreciate the prayers and support! To those who have children/family serving overseas right now...Keep the faith that they'll return home safe and soon.

I retired from the AF after 23 years in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (your friendly neighborhood bomb squad) and in 270 days, I will complete 20 years of Civil Service. I work in the US Army Corps of Engineers cleaning up old bombing ranges (more bombs and bullets). I will retire (again) this October. Then Carol and I will go playing with out 2955RL.
Oh, yeh, I still have all my fingers.

Were retired Army Aviation after 23 years and retired Fed Govt after 20 years. We started with a tent and now pull 37' of Montana. Were not full timers, but spend a lot of time on the road traveling. We have met so many good people out there. After the Montana rally, I can now place faces with the pen names. We look forward to reading comments about the RVs and trucks on the MOC. We even like to hear from Riegle even if he is a Jawhawker.

Son (15 yrs.) and Daughter in Law (16 Yrs.) are both active duty USAF. Son is EOD, like Lasater. He leaves for his second tour in Iraq in the next few weeks, she was there last year, and may be returning before he comes home. If that happens it'll be the first time they've been deployed at the same time, and we'll have the 2 grandkids, either here (summer) or their place if schools in session.
Our sincere gratitude to all those currently serving or have done so in the past.

Our son is in the AF, 16 years. He was over there for all of Desert Shield and the first 20 days of Desert Storm, with the Wild Weasels. He also flew No-Fly zone 4-5 times, and flew Weasel duty in Afganistan several times. He presently commands a squadron working with the Navy. We're very proud of him! I'm retired Army, Pershing II Missile System tech.

Our youngest, Mike, had to delay his college education 2 years, He joined the AL National guard right out of high school - did one year of college and then did a year at Ft Gilliam in Atlanta followed by one year guarding the detainees at Gtmo( He's an MP). Still in the guard (full time student at Auburn - his choice not mine. Roll Tide! )and just made Sgt. We pray he doesn't get activated again and we hurt a little everytime we hear of another military fatality.

Our son-in-law is an AF pilot--currently flies KC-135s. Nephew is an Army doctor. Cousin just returned from a year as an Army chaplain in Iraq. Bill has spent his entire career (38 yrs) designing and testing systems for the military--primarily AF and Navy. Has always felt that the opportunity to design the best equipment possible for those who must use it while serving in the military is a great privilege. Our prayers are with those who serve and with all their loved ones.
