Hydraulic Level System

So I was having intermittent problem when retracting or extending legs. The legs would stop then I would release the button on the controls and then press again and they would work. I took the rig to the dealer because I thought it was a control problem or something in the wiring. so they tell me the hydraulic fluid was two quarts low and it will loose oil over time. There is no evidence of fluid anywhere so that is hard to believe. The RV is was purchased only six months ago.
Has anyone else had this issue?

Feed back appreciated.

2 quarts is a lot of fluid. Do you see any leaking anywhere? does the coroplast sag? indicating it is full of fluid.

Issue may also be 50 amp breaker is undersized.

If you add fluid add anti-stiction fluid. You'll be happier if you do.

Don't have level up on my unit so I probably shouldn't even reply. I do have a basic understanding of hydraulics. A sealed system should not lose fluid over time. I agree with jeffba, two quarts is a lot of fluid to lose. If it is losing fluid there is leak somewhere. As the unit is only six months old I wonder if it was filled properly from the factory.

Being low on fluid shouldn't cause the pump to start and stop. My money is on the 50 amp re settable breaker.

A lot of people have that issue of stopping when operating the slides. Could be a resettable breaker issue or even a battery issue. Is the unit plugged into shore power when this happens ?.

Hydraulic fluid should NEVER just disappear. Its a sealed system and only a leak somewhere would cause the fluid level to become low.

On our old rig we replaced the 50amp breaker with an 80amp one and never had another problem. On my new rig I found all the connections to the gang valve loose and had to tighten them up to stop losing fluid.

Look in the files section. I think you will find the LCI bulletins on adding anti-sticktion fluid and replacing the 50 amp circuit breaker with 80Amp breaker.

BTW, looking at mine (2019, 3130re) I do not see any breaker at all? Looks like it goes from the battery to a bus bar then directly to the reversible switch then to the motor.

The 50 amp breaker you need to be concerned about is the left red covered connection on the wall below the level of the pump. You can see the wire from it going to the pump.

As Carl said, that buss bar is not a buss bar. It is the thermal resetting breaker. A cheap automotive wonder.

Would someone do me a favor and post a picture of their 2 50 amp breakers directly off the battery. I replaced with an 80 amp and may have messed it up. 3 wires and I may have messed it up!! Amazing huh!?! I have one wire directly off the first 50 amp to the 80 amp “battery” terminal and the other 2 off the downstream terminal on the 80 amp breaker. I’d use a “checklist” as others have suggested, but there was no step called “stupid gets distracted and forgets”. Thanks in advance!

By the way, I replaced the second breaker (one that kept tripping with the hydraulics). First breaker never has tripped.

That little red covered bus you called it is actually the resettable breaker, it should be ch anger to the 80 amp resettable referee to in the post.

It was probably the weak breaker. WRT it being 2qts low, I think that's dealer speak for we don't know what's wrong. Any leakage from the pistons is minimal, and the 2qts would show somewhere in the system as a definite leak.

Thanks Carl. I saved that link for future reference.
This morning leaving out of Springfield Mo. It was 37deg. Our rear, right jack would not come all the way up using auto retract. Timeout error. Gave it a few minutes then used manual retract to get it up.
Night before, woke up cold. Furnace was off. Turned on fireplace and a small electric heater. Next morning checked propane. Was empty. Switched tanks, furnace worked fine. I need to check that auto switching valve.
Cold weather woes....
Time to head south. Lol.

We had that issue first camping trip after buying our 2018 Montana. We had fluid leaking, very visible. We took it straight back to the dealer to have it fixed. Have not had any more issues with it since the one time.

We had the same problem with our 2013 3402RL. Replace the circuit breaker usually located near the positive battery wiring is a quick fix. These breakers wear out.....

Couple years ago, we were having Leveling issues. Had the Lippert Techs look at it while we were at our SOB Rally in Shipshewana. Very first thing they did was change out the cheap Auto Reset breaker for an 80 Amp manual reset breaker.
Problem turned out to be the rear sensor, but they wouldn't even start trouble shooting until the breaker was changed.
Should tell the MFRs something, but they're not listening.

Check fuses

Mine had one 50 and one 35 amp. Change both. I've had mine since 2013. Never added, just changed fluid once.
