Delayed Delivery
I got this email today for a unit I ordered on Jan 29th!
"I hope you are well. I did not forget about you but I waited to hear from Keystone to give you your answer. So the answer from Keystone is:
"We have a backlog of other floorplans that we need to build before the 3910. That's why its looking into April."
This was straight from Keystone. So we are looking mid May possibly sooner but I think it would be safe to plan this way. "
Who does that to customers?? Seriously, is this the same thing that has happened to others that have ordered their units? Am I just being too impatient?

I think our delivery date from time of order was a a little over two months or so. If it is ordered from the factory, it is somewhat normal, the production runs are usually pre-scheduled from what I understand, for instance, our ordered 3850FL had to be scheduled and since it was a Big Sky, also had to be scheduled for paint, drying, etc., and then scheduled for delivery. If they are selling a lot of units (RV show influence for instance), I can easily see the two months running into three, but four seems a stretch.

I think their build time depends a lot on other manufacturers who provide the components.

Waiting for a new RV is the second hardest wait. The hardest (IMHO) is waiting for a repair while your camping season is slipping away.

If you buy used, like we did, it'll be waiting for you.

yes, this is normal, they run so many and then change to the next model. salesperson should have told you 8-12 out.

Last year our unit was off the line in 6 weeks but it was normally expected to be approx. 8 weeks. 10 or 12 weeks is looking to me lit a bit of a stretch. Can't believe your weren't provided with a firm production date within two weeks of your order.

I was initially told 6-8 weeks. I was not thrilled with 12.....but now it's 15-16 weeks? But now I'm sold on the features I wanted, so what choice do I have?

Sometimes manufacturers are held hostage by their suppliers. There may be things your particular floor plan needs that Keystone doesn't have or can't get the parts for. When I ordered our new truck, it got pushed back because I wanted the factory spray in bed liner and unfortunately that wasn't set up and operational yet.
If you don't want to wait, you could call various dealers and see if any of them have something that matches your wants and needs. Outside of the floor plan, some options can be dealer added.
And for what it's worth, when we had to have the front cap on our 06 replaced, it took 3 months just to get that - and we're only 200 miles from the factory. When we had to have a slide mechanism on our new one replaced, it took Tiara a month to get it from Keystone, and Tiara is only 25 or so miles from the factory. In both cases, it wasn't Montana that was the delay, it was the vendors who supplied the parts.

So unfortunate, but what choice do you have? You have ordered this unit the way you want it, full body paint, 614s etc. so to start over again will not bring you any closer to a new unit. Finding the exact match will be impossible and I don't think in the end you will regret the long wait.

Not that it helps, but we ordered another new SOB before Xmas and don't expect to see it before mid-March at the earlest.

It may even be a 2016 model when you get it and have some little extra features you aren't expecting. ours was manufactured in April of 2013 and it was called a 2014. it took about 9 weeks after we ordered it

CW told me last week it would be about two months delivery on the 3910. Production wouldn't start on the 3910 until mid-March.
We are torn between a stock unit and ordering one for the same price. We don't like the new full body paint design, but would like to have the new bells and whistles on the new production model.

I guess that'd be cool to get a 2016, as long as the changes are something I'd want. I guess I just need to be patient, as I do want the paint and I haven't found one with paint on anyone's lot.

Judging from the appearance of our decals, the paint is worth waiting for. I'm sure you'll get it in plenty of time for a long camping season.

We ordered our 2015 Montana High Country 305RL at the end of October with a time of 6 to 8 weeks. We were told a few weeks later that it would roll off the line in Mid March!! And that it would be a 2016 model. Talk about anxious!! Try waiting 5 months!! haha

Wow Mhc! That's worse than me! I'm sorry for your wait too! I just can't see how they can do that?

It seems like they slow way down between December and February. The "re-tool" should not take that long. Needless to say, we are excited about getting it!!
