Peeling Decals ... Info Needed

I'm getting ready to see if Keystone will work with me on supplying and or replacing the decals out of warranty and need some info. Sometime back this issue was discussed and someone had the low down on Keystone changing decal vendors in the 04 - 05 period ... could you restate it? And ... has anyone had any luck getting Keystone to work with you on replacing those dreaded peeling decals ... come to think of it, my Monty is a rolling billboard. After 5 years, my 2000 Montana didn't come close to looking like my 05 model. Thanks!

They did send me new ones but i had to pay for labor myself. I did it myself, took long time to peel off the old ones with heat gun adn scrapper, but turned out nice. Call Aram Koltookian (number will be suppllied via email) that's who helped me out.

Broome101 ... thanks for the info. Sounds fair to me. Did you run into any yellowing problems on either cap with the heat gun or just be aware of the possibility?

We have a 1999 Montana 3350RS and after inpecting all the decals closely I can only find a narrow red stripe on one side starting to curl slightly on one edge. I doubt that Keystone have any spare 1999 decals but I wonder what I can do? On the other hand, I am impressed that a 1999 that has been outdoors for the last 8 years is in such great shape given the problems some newer one seem to be having.

I had a 2000 3255, no problem with the decals. I have a 2005 3670 and the decals are shrinking, wrinkling, and peeling. I am not satisfied with this at all.

As my decals peel off, I was trying to figure out different combinations of names my RV will say as it progresses:

Mo.t...a
....ana
...tana
..ontan..
...tan..
Mon....
Mont...a
Mon..a..

any others?

Diesel, no yellowing just don't let the heat gun stay directly on it for any period and you should be fine

Hi Broome --
I sent you an email, but will ask here also. I would love the phone number for the person who helped you get your new decals. I've contacted Keystone more than once about this and have not received a response. Thanks, in advance

Ours on our 03 started peeling off, so we removed them with a razor blade scrapper and hair dryer, came off easy. We bought some paint from a craft store that matched perfect. We painted them back on. The montana outline was still there so it was pretty easy. We will see how long it will last. The paint is suppose to be sun resistant and permanent. Hummmm. Janet.

Got an email from Susan at Keystone Customer Relations today ... Keystone is supplying the decals to replace the curling, chipped, shrunk-up ones that I now have. The labor cost is on me, but I feel this is only fair. Although my fiver is 10 months out of warranty, Keystone is standing behind their product! Taking good pictures from the right angles is important in supporting your case.

Someone had asked about what to do for peeling decals. On another web site, a RV owner who is a graphic designer, explained that the best thing to do is to try and prevent the peeling. To do this he suggested, that you contact a sign design company and purchase a sealer. These usually come in a "pen style". Then you use the pen on the edge of your decals. He also suggested not to wash the trailer with a high pressure wash. Use a gentle brush. As far as the sealer, we did find a store in our area. They are ordering us one. The pen will cost $18.00. (Not sure if we need one or two)
If peeling has already started, and the peeling is light, curling...it was suggested to take a glue (ie. rubber cement glue)and glue down the edges, then you can use the sealer.
