Dave, if they're flashing their lights at you, they better turn around! They're going the wrong direction for the rally. Godspeed! May you have a wonderful trip and we'll see you soon. Your post really makes it seem like this rally is getting close. We can't wait!

Drive safe, Dave. We leave here the 16th, arrive there the 18th.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

Well I made it to the 1st destination, Salt Lake City UT. The truck has done outstanding!! This leg covered 740 miles over a 12 hour period(2 days, 8 the first & 4 the second). For those who would like to know, my avg. mpg is 11.6 (i say 12) that includes 2 mountain pass' 4th of July and Lookout Pass in Idaho along with up and over the 6,000' continential divide in Montana. Went through 2 forest fires, med. size hail, horrid rain, and have had strong winds both days. URGH! I will be in Salt Lake until Monday when I head eastward. Passed 4 Montana's and not one of them flashed back!! We have got to get the word out!!!

Well Dave you know how those uppty Montana Owners are with their nose in the air. They think since they have the best on the road they are better than every one else.
Be safe, I am sure looking forward to meeting you and passing on some of my Hoosier welcoming. Now don't get a Colorado High when you go through there.

indy~

I am not sure of my route just yet, might swing up into Wyoming for a bit before heading onto the Chicagoland area. I have to say if I could find a way, I would stay out here forever!! After 2 days on the road, I never want to stop. I am looking forward to meeting you guys in Goshen as well. Will sure be nice to finally put a face and a hand shake to all the friends I have made here these past 2.5 years!

Montana,

I'm jealous too, say hi to everyone and take a lot of pictures. Maybe on the way back you could come through CO.

Dave, you're traveling the ideal way. Lots of time. Time to detour to somewhere interesting if you want to do that.

I'm glad to hear (I assume) there was no damage to the truck because of the hail. With ours parked outdoors all the time that's something I worry about when those white balls of ice start falling.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

Steve,
I spent a few minutes checking out the truck and the coach yesterday. So far it seems that I made it through w/o any damage. Went up on the roof of the coach, all the Maxxair vent covers, both a/c covers, and the skylight all seem to be fine. No cracks in them!! =) I really thought the front end cap and the windshield were going to need repairs from the impact of that golf ball size hail. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice and sunny, will head out and double check them again.

Dave, we had the same thing happen to us in Minnesota the other day. We were very lucky not to have any damage either. Take care.
