A while back I read a post where someone's hinges had let go on the trap door and on inspecting mine I noticed the left hand side of the opening had no support for the trap door. The right hand side did and the front has too, but both sides must support the door or else the hinges are bearing more weight that a hinge like that was made for.
Check this out by stepping on both sides of the door. If you have an unsupported edge you will feel the deflection. Some models may need support on both sides. It just depends on the workmanship because the door is made to be supported on both sides and if your install is done right, it will be.
Anyway I found an easy fix was to drill a piece of aluminum channel and drill and screw it on to the aluminum floor joist. Just use good self tapping screws and the right size drill bit. Here is a picture of my fix.
I have edited this post to say that 90% of the workmanship on this 06 2955RL is excellent and certainly better than all the other RVs I have owned in the last 30 years. Working on an RV is a hobby for me and I love trying to improve my RVs so this is my favorite forum.
