UPDATE: We need your prayers . . .
Thank you, thank you, thank you, friends, for your prayers and thoughts and encouraging words. After a long day in "waiting for the pathology results" hell, Susan learned that the tumor was actually a large pocket of infection, probably related to the ruptured cyst. The ultrasound picked up several other suspicious areas in her abdomen, but after a colonoscopy and other tests (camera in the stomach?), the surgeons found nothing but hot spots of infection, some of them forming cysts which appeared to be tumors during the initial testing she went through before being admitted to the hospital from the ER. She was started on massive doses of two kinds of antibiotics via IV's right after lunch today, and by tonight, her white count was dropping steadily--a sign that the drugs were working. She's still in a lot of pain, but it was so good to see the smile on her face when we left the hospital tonight. She has to undergo a few more tests, but the surgeons assured her tonight that they don't expect to find anything other than what they've already found--ovarian cysts and the remains of the infection she has.
Again, thank you so much. The MOC family is the best!
Our oldest daughter, Susan Phillips, went to the ER (Bay City, Texas) in terrible pain yesterday. A sonogram revealed a ruptured ovarian cyst, but it also revealed a large mass in her upper colon, an unexpected development. She's presently undergoing more tests, including a biopsy scheduled for later today. Please remember this young mother, wife, and daughter in your prayers. We appreciate it.
Carolyn and Wayne
