We have them on our fiver. They help in keeping water out and keeping twigs, dirt, etc. off the top so you don't have the stuff coming in when you bring the slide in.
When we ordered the trailer our salesman poopooed them but after talking with the service guys they highly recommended them so we had them put on and haven't regretted them.
