The water is Az is terrible. We use two large filters and go from them to a Reverse Osmosis system that keeps the fresh water tank full. We also fill our one gallon jugs for drinking water with the RO system. It is nice to have suds for dish washing and taking a shower. I believe the faucets and water heater will live longer too. I keep it all in a large plastic tote. When the lights on the pannel show 1/2 tank I just turn it on for a couple of days. It makes about a gallon of good water per hour.

What about the different canisters? I see they have clear, white. and also offer a clear and white as part of a system. I would likely perminantly mount mine in the storage bay so clear might be a better choice?

I wouldn't go with clear if the filters are outside the rig because the clear ones allow sunlight to create algae in the water. If the canisters are hidden, then clear ones are fine.

I have clear filters and I like them. I did get algae in mine once in 3½ yrs. I have to make sure, like Orv says, to keep them out of the direct sunlight. So far so good. I really like the advantage of visually seeing what my filters condition are without having to take them apart.

We had the Seagull IV system and it did ok but still had some taste so we installed the Reverse Osmosis system from Lowes ($147) and it is just like bottled water.
Replacement filters are only $29 for all 3 compared to the Seagull filter which was $54 each.
Should not need to replace very often since the system has a backwash cycle.
