Back to Plastics

Am I the only one that has problems with PLASTIC? The little plastic thingy's that make the curtains look good in my Mountaineer break real easy. The plastic thingy at the bottom that spreads them out. In the dinning room area, dinning chair got to close broken thingy, behind the recliners relaxed with chair back and little broken thingy again. This could get expensive in time. Are we that careless or do these thingy's need to replaced with something else?? (any help or ideas?) Thanx
