Sanitization of Fresh Water System

I need some assistance in sanitizing my fresh water system on a new Montana 3791RD. This is my first time as we just purchased the unit and in following the process outlined in the Owners Manual, it just isn't working. After draining the tank via the low point drains I started adding the 1/4 cup bleach to 1 gal of water solution through the tank vent port as described in the owners manual and could only get 3/4 gallon in before it started backing up as if the port was full?? Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

what I've done is pour two cups of bleach in hose and flush it into the tank by hooking hose up. Fill Tank, Turn on pump and run thru all water points in side and shower hose. I bypassed HW tank. Drain, refill with fresh water 3x and run thru all use points . I felt comfortable after that.

RAM - I appreciate the alternative approach as the prescribed process isn't working.

I'm still interested in determining what I'm doing wrong if anyone else has any ideas.

Thanks again!

I have not had any problems adding water through the vent port. Perhaps the vent hose is pinched, but then you probably could not even get 3/4 gal in it.

Are you sure your tank drained. Mine is older (2007), but has a fresh water tank drain pipe at the rear of the trailer under the fresh water tank. My two low point drains are up front.

I have also just put the bleach in the hose. Works well.

Not sure How to drain the newer unit's fresh water tank older units had a fresh water drain under the tank.
But I can tell you opening the low point drain will not drain the fresh water tank. If their is no Fresh Water drain you will need to turn on your pump and leave low point drains open. But I sure their is a drain under the tank!

my drain is under unit by overflow - if I'm flexible that day, I can reach it without getting underneath.

Yes, tank is empty. Opened both hot/cold low point drains and the tank drain at the rear of the unit. For now I'll use the alternative method and move forward. Thanks for all of the advice.
