3400RL Bathroom window install
OK, here it is!
A harrowing experience, I might add....
It seems like I remember when Ozzie and I were sitting around the campfire at the Ozarks, he mentioned the chainsaw when installing windows, maybe not, my memory isn't what it used to be.....
(You might hit the 'view as a slideshow' and set the time to 4 or 5)

WOW that takes a lot of nerve cutting into the wall of a unit
It looks great. You certainly could make your own unit from scratch.

Thanks, folks. I think it was a couple hunnert John, I paid them $519.00 got an $80.00 bolt and bracket kit for the Ford frame-hitch mount, and two windows, so maybe $160-180 for the small window. I can't find the paperwork.

Excellent Ozz!!
I bet the extra light is already noticeable. Doesn't look like any substructure got in the way.

Nice mod Ozz!! Once again, you did yourself proud. Now you can watch the neighbors while you're in the reading room.

Ozz, very nice job. Two questions. 1)How did you keep from hitting a suport structure? And 2) being mechanically challanged, how did you get the two window holes (inside and outside) to line up?
Did I say nice job.

Brad, I got to see the mod today and with the door open, it really opens up the bed room also. I was looking at my unit this morning with the dew on it and you could see all of the frame work. There is nothing from the door until you get to the edge of the window.

Thank you all, it just happens that there is not support structure there, I checked with the Dew, metal detector and a wall stud detector. I also drilled a few holes where the mirror would cover, then sawed where the mirror would cover. Then fully committed, made the hole...
It's like the old saying measure twice, cut once. Bob, I cut the inside first, then cut through to the outside after I obsessively measured locations.
We just love it, light, and ventilation, makes the bathroom seem so much larger.

Ozz, you're amazing. Are you for hire? A bathroom window sure would be nice. I could see a future business venture for you. You wouldn't have to be lugging old furnaces out anymore. I'll bet just the members on MOC could keep you really busy.
Thanks for sharing, I doubt I can get Dick to even consider this mod, but he would sure love to have one in the water closet.

Now that is one nice mod Ozz..
I'll bet out of all the modding you've done, this one puts a smile on your face. That room would be awfully dark without a light.
And now you can ventilate without power too...
You've got some nerve there my friend...not just anyone is going to get after it like that. Congrats on a fine job.

Thanks folks. I have had two members ask if I would help install them, I think I will be much more nervous working on someone else's unit...But I will do it.
Patty, he can do it with no problem, and with the tools he has already. just measure 50 times, cut once.
Right Ozzie??

Close...you can never measure enough times to not be nervous cutting that hole...once you commit, it's whatever it takes.
...you had my wife nervous when I told her what you were doing...but we have no more room for windows...LOL

I do this for a living on people homes as I'm sure you remember Ozz...the best tip I can give anyone for this type of endeavor is once you determine where you are putting it, cut the inside layer out first...this way you can re-route wiring or whatever else may be in the way without having the area exposed to the weather.

Good advice, my friend. Oh, and my wife gets nervous with some of my projects, but sweet Sue always says; "Oh you will figure it out.."

Ozz,
Just to keep the tally-sheet up-to-date on your bathroom; you have an overhead exhaust vent, an on-the-floor powered exhaust fan vent, and now a new slide window with a vent?
Whew! One breezy place!
