I have the feeling those are toy haulers and there were too many in one spot. I think that may be hard to get the insurance to pay.

Yeah, I agree, I don't feel comfortable walking on ice let alone driving on it. And to top it off it appears that they are just off the shore too.....why not just park on the shore if your that close

It always baffles me when people take vehicles out onto the ice. They're just asking for trouble. Being in a winter climate, every year there are ice fisherman who have to be rescued from ice they were warned to stay off of. In my mind the full cost of the rescue should be charged to these folks rather than have our tax dollars pay for it. Same holds true for the insurance companies. If they do pay then we all wind up paying more!!!

I'm finding rather hard to be too sympathetic.

Reminds me of a story I heard about a guy who lost his truck through the ice (don't remember where) on some river. They couldn't recover the truck for several weeks due to the ice. He was charged an environmental fine for every day that truck was in the water because of the toxic nature of the oil & gas that was in the truck. I don't remember the amount but I think it was a 3 digit figure every day....

All we can say is "Wellll--duhhh!!" Never cease to be amazed at the stupidity of people. We're with you Chester--we don't mind helping to foot the bill for unforseeable accident rescue or insurance coverage. But when you volunteer to be an idiot you should be required to pay the costs on your own. Bet there was a lot of moaning and groaning and gnashing of teeth going on that day!

Now, now. Being an ice fisherman, I resemble those remarks. I must say, I haven't taken my truck out on the ice, but mainly because I don't live where that is an option. In areas up north, they actually plow roads on the ice and put up signs. It is the idiots that try to stretch the season from both ends (too early or too late) that create the issues. As in anything, common sense isn't so common.
