Directions Oceanside CA to Pomona

Taking I5 and then CA Hw 57 is about 80 miles. Over to I15 at Escondido and North to catch CA Hw 71 is about 100 miles. Is I15 a better route trafficwise? I don't mind driving 20 extra miles if there is much less traffic and slowdowns. I can do this mid-day to avoid rush hour, etc.
Thanks.

We plan on staying at the rv park by the Lake - not KOA. However, some reviews stated it had alot of unsavory people staying long term. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks.

East Shore is where we are staying, the KOA we stated at for 3 days very tight. Yes there is long term here and there are no issues. At the KOA your right on a Main Street, very noisy.....Our neighbor had his bike stolen the first night there, they cut the lock.
