Got the same letter today......appointment on Tuesday. Must be a big update, as it states Ford isn't responsible if it doesn't get taken care of!

Glad you posted. I got a letter too. Was ready to go in tomorrow, but after reading your post, I discovered the letter related to the truck I just traded. So It doesn't apply to me now. I should read more carefully. However the service rep said it would only take a few minutes to do the job..

I read on a Ford blog where this Flash protects the engine better by sending the truck into 'limp' mode sooner if detecting a fault.

Took my 350 in today. Not sure what this service actually does or prevents, but it was done quickly. Had an oil change done at the same time, and they noticed a leak on my tranny!! Needless to say, truck is in the shop tonight awaiting diagnosis and parts, and my brand new ESP is picking up my rental...life is sweet! Got home and noticed the oil spots on the driveway I never noticed, the give away that something is leaking. Better now than on the road pulling the rig!

Walt, glad that they caught the leak. It's always a pain taking them in, but the rental (free) is nice.

I might add that you have to sometimes check the service that you have received when they change oil and filter. They sometimes drip or spill it all over the the under carrage of the truck on the steel rock plates underneath and it drips for a short time. I have found that On GM's anyway... Don't know about Ford's....JB

I think that is why they are injecting dye in to see where it goes when they drive it around. If the dye comes out it shows them where and how. Unless of course you mean they do that on PURPOSE. At any rate, with this coming just a thousand miles before the original warranty runs out, I am thankful I bought the ESP. If it had evaded me for another 4 to 6 weeks...

Had the recall done yesterday.
The truck just turned 17K and I didnt realize the 3/36 warranty was about to run out on time so I did some research and purchased an ESP online that will take me into 2015. Guess I just like that peace of mind.

John, the other nice thing aout the ESP is that it picked up my rental car as well! Original warranty would not have done that!

Had that done a few days ago..Told the service guy that my truck was running fine and if this flash mucked that up there would be BIG trouble.. they told me this was a good flash that protected against failures that could damage the truck and would affect nothing else...

After the flash the truck will have to re learn, shift points and the MPG O meter will have to catch up..... The truck runs fine....no changes.

Took mine in 2 days ago, they still have it.
I had a burning smell in the duct, I told them the last time I had it over there to change the fan blower motor. They didn't, they changed the blend valve, it still had the burned smell. They called me yesterday, I was in a meeting. They left a message that they smelled the odor, and their 'plan' was to clean the coil with a cleaner... I was so mad I didn't call them back. I will probably take Sue with me when I go over so I won't end up in jail.
I have probably changed out 1,000 plus electric motors, I know what burned windings and wiring smell like.
They gave me a 2011 Taurus to drive, I can't hardly get in and out of it without folding double, then my head hits the roof. Don't think that will end up being a family car for us.
Good thing the spring/summer rush hasn't hit yet, they will keep the truck until it is fixed right. I have the 0 deductible bumper to bumper ESP, I don't care how many parts they replace, just so it's fixed.

Same here with knowing what burning windings and wiring smell like after hundreds of times. Be firm without having to post bail.
