Waste Tank Gages

Just learning about 5th wheeling. Spent our first couple weeks in our 08 Montana. I notice that all my tank gages seem to show 2/3 or full in just a day or so - I know I have not reached capacity. How accurate are the gages? If it says full, what percentage of the tank capacity is actually used? This is not problem in a full service camp, but it sure could be if we dry camp? Thanks for any thoughts.

The only gauge that is somewhat accurate is the fresh water gauge. Disregard the others. When your toilet begins to burp (like a blow back bubble), you have about another day or maybe two before you should dump it. As for the grey water and galley water, you'll know when they are full because water will back up in the kitchen sink and the shower. Don't worry, just live the lifestyle and enjoy it like the rest of us.

Like Orv says, the gauges are known for inaccuracy. Only experience with your rig will help. My new rig has been reasonably accurate so far, but next time out may be a totally different story. Good luck Bob

Ditto the others. It's a problem throughout the industry. You can buy good ones but as Orv said, before long you'll know when it's time to dump.

Besides the sensors getting dirty, they also are not real accurate at placing the sensors. Based on fill time, when our freshwater tank says 2/3 full it's really only about 1/2 or a little less full.

The battery gauge is about the only one in our rig that is fairly accurate.
