LED Tail Lights

Does anyone have experience with LED tail lights? They seem to be a wonderful additions to Big Rigs and some of the new 5th Wheels. I know you can buy the bulbs but I am not sure they are as bright as they should be.

Lee b,
The only experience I've had with them is to see them on other rigs. The ones I've seen are very bright!

I have searched and searched for an LED replacement for these dumpy old Chevy tailights that Montana uses - but nothing. You would think a custom truck outfit would have some.

The lenses are wrong for any LED replacement bulb, as they are too thick and have little prisms in there to spread the light. I replaced all of the lights on my boat trailer with LED replacement assemblies and they are super bright! I love to watch the fast LED turns signals next to the slow glow incandescent bulbs on the truck.

You can buy LED tail lights at Flying J, but I think you would have to add them as an addition, rather than a replacement. They are quite a bit more expensive. They would be nice. We try not to be out when we would need them, but you sometimes can't help it.

Maybe Keystone will take note and start making them a standard feature on the new Montana's. I would sure be interested in them as well.

I, too, don't want to be out at night, and so far haven't. But, during the day, I think they would be much more visible.
