That was stupid beyond words! If he is distracted enough to come that close to a low bridge he only has one way to get out of it. He has to back out and find a safe place to turn around which will probably involve a telephone call to the local police for assistance with the traffic. Of course there could be a reason he don't want to call for assistance, like a problem with his CDL, or maybe he is way over on his drive hours for the day/week.

That is my biggest fear, however, and the reason we invested in the Rand McNally GPS. I wouldn't have tried that, but backing a mile or so and maybe around a corner isn't on my bucket list.

Same here QD. The RM gps unit is a dandy and I use it every time I tow. And even then I pay close attention to warning signs.

Yes they walk amoung us lol lol...sorry I can't even feel sorry for that dumb you know what.... It's not the fact he turned down a wrong way and probably missed all the warning signs. Its the fact he continued to destroy that truck and kept at it lol lol... He should know that the police in that area have a procedure to get trucks out of that situation and all he had to do was call 911. In my town of Altoona Pa there was a low ,,very low rail road underpass in the middle of town. Trucks were all the time crashing into it and the lucky ones just stopped and the police got them backed out of it. But I do know it is easy to do. Once driving a Bell Tel bucket truck they sent me on a job at 5 pm so I was in a hurry and wasn't thinking and was mad because of it and I was haulin butt to get there. Well there is another RR underpass that is only 9ft high...yes 9 ft. Well my bucket truck was 10 ft. At the last minute I realized that and came to a skidding stop just before I took off the bucket lol lol.... I was used to driving one of our vans but this day I had one of the big buckets.. I lucked out ....whewwwwww....... Remember though that this guy is driving around with 80k lbs and is the one who may be passing you on the interstate, that is what's scary....../

Frankly I think he did a fine job! It takes talent to rip up a truck like that. Plus he never gave up! If it were me, I back up and hit the bridge really hard. Much easier to explain? Lol

It wasn’t a low bridge but a ditch cut across the road for a pipeline and because it was a limited traveled road there were no signs.

The proper procedure is to get the traffic behind you to back up enough to give you room to maneuver in to the oncoming traffic lane then back it out until you find a cross street or something large enough to get turned around.

In my case I backed in the oncoming lane for 15 miles.

On top of that he had it straight enough to back it into the oncoming lane and then tried again and really tore the truck and trailer up.

You will probably find he can’t back one up very far LOL
