Airborne Sidewinder

Have a manual Reese slider. Tired of getting out and sliding and missed sliding a month ago and cost me a back window...could of been worse. Anyone have a Airborne Sidewinder on their Monty?

We have a 5th Airborne Sidewinder with a DrawTight Hitch in our Ford 250SD Short Bed. We can turn the rig to a 90 degree but we are having some problems hitching and unhitching. Not sure if it is the Airborne or the DrawTight - have heard differing opinions. It sure is nice for getting out of tight spots - especially with hubby's bad back, but sometime hooking up is a pain the the patootie....

the real answer is the pul-rite hitch as we get 110 degrees on a f250 short box ;;;;;sailer

Thanks for the replys so far. Am looking at both and debating. Found a 20K pullrite and considering it. Like the pluses that people say about the ride and turning on the Sidewinder. All comments are apreciated.

I have the sidewinder. I got it so I didnt have the same problem you have. It also makes the trailer 2 feet shorter (it pivots 2 feet behind the kingpin). You can use a standard 5th wheel hitch which is a lot lighter and easier to remove. I did have problems hooking up till I discovered you have to hook up at the same angle you unhooked.

I agree with (SAILER). Just get the right size superglide ( I have the 24k which moves 18") and you won't have a problem. I have a 06 Dodge Megacab CTD and have towed over 40k with no hitch problems. Only routine lubrication is required. The only drawback to the hitch is the size and weight. I use a chain fall and store the hitch on a pallet with casters. When removed the bed floor is completely clean. I made plugs for the four mounting holes. My superglide is quiet, doesn't chuck, hooks up easily and was a snap to install. Best of all you can drive without worrying about getting out and fooling with a manual slider or forgetting and becoming the victim of cab trailer contact.

Thanks to those that replied. Bought a airborne sidewinder off ebay and going to give it a try. Will update how I like it.
