Replacing 1/2 time apollo oven

We have a 2006 2955 RL - had a power surge and fried all the electronics. We replaced everything but the apollo. Anyone replace this apollo with another brand? We are not sure we want to stay with this brand after reading of the problems with them.

Just a note..Since we replaced the known defective handle (before it failed) and Helen studied the instruction manual and uses the oven per instructions... it workes just fine and does a good job..

I like the apollo, after I did some modifications on the button handle.
Did you NOT have any type of surge protection...and is there something that has been recommended? I don't have any either, so I will be watching this topic closely.

We have had no problems with the Apollo, in fact my wife liked it so well we bought one for the house and gave one as a gift. QVC had the best price.

Silverbird, go to the thread in this forum entitled, "Fried our 1/2 time.." We just installed a GE that we bought at Wal-Mart for $189. The model # is in that thread. It doesn't exactly fit the same space, but it isn't hard to make it fit. PM me if you have any questions. My wife really, really likes the oven and it also has a grill feature in addition to the microwave/convection, 1/2 features.
