Furnace issue, FYI
Ran out of Propane yesterday as I was cookin my eggs, so I finished them in the Microwave, wasn't as much fun as the time the eggs were still in the shell..
Anyway, I filled the tank yesterday (I use the other tank for the grill) replaced the full tank in the enclosure, came in and checked to see if all the burners were still turned off, grabbed a cold one and forgot to turn the tank back on. Fast-foreword to this morning, turned the furnace on, cycled off after trying to start a few times. Light bulb came on above my Punkin, so I went out, turned the tank valve on. The furnace then lit, ran 3 or 4 seconds, then flame went out, did this for about 5 minutes, so I turned off the thermostat, waited about 3 minutes, turned it back on heat and it ran fine.
Don't know why it was short-cycling, something in the circuit board I guess.
Long story longer, if that happens, just shut down the furnace control (Thermostat) and try it again. Might take 2 times.

Ozz... every time I run out of propane in one tank.. I turn the other tank on..furnace will short cycle... I have to turn it completely off at the thermostat ..wait a couple of minutes... turn back on.. it will work great until I run out of propane again..then I have to do the same thing all over again...

i thought this was a pressure/safety/regulator issue ? my grills actually do the same thing when turning on a tank...but none of them have an issue when I turn the tank on very, very slowly. make any sense ?

I don't think so, one would think that in my case, when it was getting gas, and my burners burned full and steady on the stove, the furnace cutting on and off seemed to be a safety switch error. But a reset fixed it. If it was pressure alone, the reset would not have cured it, (along with the fact that the burners were strong on the stove)

Whenever we've had a perceived propane problem the first thing we do is light up all three burners on the stove to check for a strong and steady flame. This past year we had what we thought was a regulator problem and it turned out to be a restricted/blocked hose leading from the tank to the regulator, we now carry a spare hose.
In this case I would agree that a strong flame would probably rule out the propane supply. This is something to date we have not experienced. Glad to have the heads up, thanks for sharing!!!

Yup, found this one out by accident. shut it down, walked around scratching my head and thinking. I turned the thermostat back on and did nothing and it fired up.

Years ago, our dealer (same as yours) told me to actually pull the thermostat off the wall and disconnect it from the phone-like jack on the back. Reconnect and that resets it. Worked fine ever since.

This is a safety system. If an individual appliance is in the on position and gas is turned on the safety regulator will limit flow until turned off for a couple of minutes. This is to reduce the risk of explosion if an appliance was on when gas is turned on and not attended to. Same thing will happen with your grill if the burners are in the on position when the gas is turned on. To avoid this always turn the appliances off before turning the gas on and everything will work perfectly.

Actually, the circuit board locks out. The 'hard reset' (killing power) resets the circuit board.
