The dealership replaced my axle and 2 new front tires when I experienced excessive tire wear on the left front tire only. I took it to an alignment shop after that and had it aligned. It WAS out of alignment, and recently replaced all GY Marathons with Michelin after a blowout near San Antonio Texas. No more Goodyear tires for me.

go over to the http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=49622 thread and you will see that the whole problem with Marathons is that they need 10 psi pressure over max indicated on sidewall and some 75 mph driving!!!

Don't know how they did it but the shop was able to straighten my spindle.
We just returned from a 700 mile trip to the Northeast Rally and the new tires look fine. I can't feel any signs of "feathering" and all the ribs look even.

Well, it's at the dealer now, and they have to do all sorts of "measuring" to see if the axel or spindle is bent, or possible the Mor/ryde part is cracked. Once it's fixed, it's new shoes, and we're good to go again.

They found that the rear axel was bent. I have no idea how they arrived at that conclusion, but it's abour $600 for a new axel + $200 shipping plus labor and 1 new tire........... Guess I made their week. I'm guessing insurance will cover it.

I think you need a second opinion. I bought new axles (2) for a lot less than the price you got for one. As I recall (the paper work went with the old trailer) they were about $120 each plus shipping of $30. It shouldn't take more than two hours to change one axle (and install a wet bolt kit if you haven't got one already).

I agree with Carl. I priced this once, the whole assembly with backing plates, brakes and drums was $300-400. But you can buy the "Tube" with just the axle and spindles for $180.

As Mike (Ishler) noted, I bought just the tubes. The backing plates, brakes and drums from the old axle tubes were re-used.

The axel they ordered is "complete"..... IE: tube, axel, brakes, backing plates, spindles, etc. I don't know for sure, but I would expect this whole assembly weighs at least 200lbs. I doubt any shipper would ship this for $30. They are even going to replace the tire. I'm happy with this deal.
