Need propane range top guru

We are experiencing some blackening on the bottom of our pots and pans. Does this indicate problems with the air mixture? If so, is there a procedure for correcting the problem?

Flame is blue on low and is blue with white tips as burner is increased to high. Does this indicate some sort of blockage or constriction? I am not sure about the dynamics on propane burners.

The "B" picture is for propane.

Down the page a little it tells you what to do to adjust for better flame.

Flame is white-blue and has hard, sharp features.

Possible Cause
Excessive primary air.
Corrective Action
Adjust air shutter.

I just went out and looked at mine and there are no air shutters on my pipes that feed the propane to the burner.....

Hmm, hopefully someone will come along with a suggestion.

Just a general answer here ... do all of your burners cause the blackening or just one? If all do, I'd look to your pressure regulator first. If just one burner is the culprit, I'd look to see if anything is blocking airflow to it as in tin foil under the burner to catch drippings or the air adjuster on the supply tube loose.

Well, I took it all apart. Found some cleaning that needed to be done. After cleaning all tubes, I put it back together. It improved operation, but did not clear up the problem completely. Still have a mix problem on the front burner.

oldelmer is right, no air port adjustment. Other repair suggestion was to replace the orifice with a smaller one. Good site with helpful detail. we are going to use the cook top awhile to determine if the orifice change will be necessary.

can you tell if your h.w. tank is burning okay? if not it could be the regulator failing

I also run across this link for Atwood / Wedgewood stoves. It's dated mid 2000's, but still has good advice and parts breakdowns. I still lean toward a regulator as there is also one incorporated in the stove itself. Start around page 9 on ....

It is only the front burner on the stove top. Rear burners operate as they should. I operate the water heater on electric only so as to cut propane use. Furnace operates as expected. We will see how well the cleaning improved function.
