Thermostat

Just got home with Montana from dealer and noticed the thermostat shows "off", zone 1 and message E 1. The manual is nowhere to be found. Nothing works on the thermostat. The thermostat is 12 volts and slides went out and battery checks okay. It is connected to 20amp, 110. 2011 3400RL with two a/cs. Did a search on this site and not anything concerning this problem that I found. Talked back with dealer and they need to talk to Dometic first thing Monday morning! Where can you get a manual online?

Thanks, but have been around that link and cannot find anything useful that I have recognized. Without a manual stating the model/or number having no luck. I seem to remember people mentioning the code "E 1" but can't remember where.

I would remove the unit, remove the fuse that should be in the back, wait 10 minutes, reinstall the fuse and see what happens.

Okay, have the unit off the wall and the back off. I assume the fuse is the "silver" gray cylinder shaped object on the back. If this is the fuse how does it come out or off. Do you twist or pull it? I want to be careful here. Thanks,

That is the same thermostat we have and it can be somewhat confusing but once you get used to it, you will enjoy it. Glad that I could be of some help. If you have any problem programming, I would sure try to help.

We have used it for about a year. At first the second a\c's compressor in the bedroom would not came on. The temperature reading for zone 2 was usually not even close to zone 1's. The dealer moved the thermometer from beside the a\c unit in the bedroom to the side of the room. They say that fixed it but haven't been in really hot weather since. The latest shop visit was to replace leaking hydraulic line, peeling decals and replace the remote. Peeling decals on a 2011! The thermostat was noticed upon return home from dealer who is about an hour away. The E1 code means the unit is not communicating with the mother board according to the manual.

Still waiting for answer on removing the "fuse" from the circuit board in the wall thermostat.

Thanks everyone

I meant "module" board not mother. Been wanting to call it a few names and got confused.

Mike was right on, the fuse is in the low voltage electrical panel. Should be labeled.

The silver, cylnder shaped object I think is the fuse has 35V on the top. Not sure how you "pop" it out. Appears to be black brackets at the bottom and don't want to break it especially if it not the removable fuse. This is on the green circuit board inside the black colored plastic outside covering of the thermostat. Now if I knew how to post a picture!

If you have your thermostat off the wall there is no fuse on the back side, just a phone jack for your connection. If you have an E1 fault on zone 2 (bedroom), try to reset the bedroom a/c breaker.

All of this is based on what we have and my 2cents worth.

Got confused on the fuse and put the thermostat back together plugged it in and the code disappeared and think it will work. I will do better test in a couple of days. Thanks,

The key is resetting the power to the thermostat, that resets fault codes. I imagine there is a way to do it with pushing a couple of buttons on the thermostat, but you have to know that sequence.
When I buy and install a commercial thermostat there are two sets of instructions, installation, and operation. I seldom leave the installation with the customer after setting it up the way they want it.
These new digital thermostats are mini-computers, wonderful...when they work.

I agree with ozz he is right on, the pushing two buttons at a time to reprogram,(Zone & Mode). But it has to be in the off position.

The first thing attempted was pushing and holding the mode and zone buttom for seconds as the dealer recommended. That didn't work. The unplugging and plugging worked and now have tested furnace and a/c and they work. Thanks,
