Mountaineer bike rack - update
Back in Nov when I took posession of my new 298 RLS I severely criticized the bike rack integrated into the rear bumper. The problem was the amount of extension to the locked position. Today I reinstalled the bumper/rack after removing it and drilling new holes for the locking pins. The original extension was 18 inches, too much for my comfort. Since I will only be carrying one bike, I drilled new holes that left only a 9 inch extension of the bumper, which I find is quite acceptable. I still do not like the looseness of the vertical support post, but with sufficient hold-down straps and a metal wedge,it has now become very rigid. Now I am happy with using the integrated bike rack. If there are Keystone people reading this, can you just drill another set of holes half way between the present ones?
