Dennis, the centrifugal force expansion conversation came up on a jeep forum that i was once a member of. Someone had posted this video as an example. The non re-enforced balloon tire on this RC car provides an exaggerated demonstration of the effect.

I'm kind of new to all this, how can I get Lonnie's list of good tires. Just about ready to purchase G614's, any advice will be appreciated.

Here is one of his posts answering a members question, I can't find the list he made for us, you might PM him, he will be happy to help you based on your trailer, rims and tire questions. (LonnieB)
Given the useage you describe, just about any name brand commercial LT would serve you well. I personally prefer the Bridgestone Duravis R500 Commercial LT and have installed them on many trailers of all kinds. As far as I know, none that I have sold have ever had a problem.
The BFG Commercial T/A is also an excellent tire, as others have stated, and costs about the same as the Firestone Transforce H/T, another good choice.
The Kumho is a good tire but availability is somewhat "iffy". If you have a problem with one on the road, finding a replacement could prove to be difficult, if not impossible.

We opted for the Bridgestone Duravis 500s for our 3400...no complaints.

After a blow out on the Marathons I was looking at purchasing the G14, I guess that I'll go with Michelin XPS, I rather pay a bit more for a tire I can trust. As far as I'm concerned that is the most important part of this 5er.

I have 16,000 miles on four Marathons. I did notice that the edges were wearing a little funny, but not enough to get alarmed- so far.
I have 96,000 miles on the Dodge Ram ( Michelin tires) that tows the trailer ( about 40,000 towing) and they still have decent tread. I wish Michelin made trailer tires, but I suspect they are smart enough to to stay away.

Just a comment from the tire dealer and maybe Lonnie can comment also that the LT 235-85-16 tires are getting hard to find if you want U.S. made tires. New trucks use 17 & 18 inch wheels now so the demand for 16's are down and the major tire companies are not producing them. So a lot of the tires are made out of the country now and will probably get worse.
