RV Collision adjuster/appraisal needed

Does anyone out there have ANY info on how to get an independent appraisal for our 5th wheel that was in an accident today? My husband got hit while rounding a curve. The oncoming vehicle crossed the line and hit our 5th wheel just about head on, without damage to our truck. The obvious damage is a jack on the ground, bent frame, all the water mechanics, the furnace, the leveling jack system, etc, etc.
Lots of damage. We live in Southeast Massachusetts and i have a feeling the insurance company isn't going to be kind. Who even repairs this much damage? We've only slept in it 5 nights so far. Completely sad and already anxious about what's to come. Truthfully, I hope it's totaled.

I almost ripped the whole rear cap off mine last year. Googled something like RV repair and my zip code. Came up with several in the DFW area. But one was an independent RV repair center (not a dealer’s shop) that had nothing but positive reviews. Their main facility is located south of DFW where I am north. But they said I could drop it off at their smaller location north of Dallas and they would transport it to their main facility.

I dropped it off. They transported it the same day. They had an estimate worked up and submitted to my insurance the 3rd day. Got approval to start from insurance, no problem. And had it ready for pickup 3 weeks later. And that spanned July 4th holiday. Looks new and it was a major repair.

It sounds like it's totaled with all that damage and a bent frame. I would push for it being totaled.

Our first Cougar had several trees fall on it while parked on our RV port. Called CW service and manager came to us. Took one look at it and said it costs more to fix. Wrote up and repair estimate In 4 days that was 150% of the purchase price. I am not a CW fan but it is my understanding that the service centers ( or at least the one I was working with near me) is separately run. They are all over so I would give them a call and feel them out.

Good luck! Glad no one was hurt. Do you have full replacement coverage? If so, you want to bring your insurance into the mix and not just depend on the other drivers insurance.

Hi

We had a commercial vehicle back in to ours a few years ago and their insurance company paid me to tow the trailer 100 miles and have one of their insured repair facilities repair the trailer.

The damage turned out to be much easier to repair than I thought and they repaired it while I waited.

I thought the floor and frame was damaged but when the removed the compartment that holds the dump hoses and fittings it was apparent that it was all fiber glass or plastic that was quite pliable.

The entire repair took about an hour.

This was sheer luck because it really looked bad.

The company that owned the truck called me to get a verbal report about and when I told them how it happened they said they would take the drive off the road and give him some training.

Get with your insurance company now!
Let them & the other drivers insurance fight it out.
I personally would fight for a replacement if the frame is bent.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I wouldn't pay for an extra opinion unless the two insurance companies are at an impasse and you start losing money. As long as it's clear blame on the other driver, and the repairs are going to get completed, or it's going to be totalled (at the right price), I recommend you take a wait and see attitude at this time.
