Like Dick and Joyce, we saw something that "popped our cork". We weren't looking for a new RV-much less one nearly twice the size and three times the price of what we had. The 1st salesperson we talked to said if you find 6 out of 10 things you like in an RV-you should buy it. Being the smart alec I am, I told her when I found 10/10-I would buy it. Well, the last one we stopped in was the one that popped our cork. Spending that kind of money, we ordered exactly what we wanted and waited for delivery. In that wait time, we ordered a 2012 but received a 2013 due to model year change over-an added bonus. While not yet retired, we intend to have it until we do and then some. That friends, is how Beth and I joined the Montana Family!!

Like Texan said if your spouse can’t travel you can’t either. My wife has 2 surgeries in the last 2 years. She is fine now but it’s hard for her to travel, arthritis. She couldn’t set in the truck all day so I bought a MH and kept our HC. That hasn’t helped much yet, maybe this winter, fingers crossed.

We kept our first Montana a 2005 2955RL for 10 glorious years including a 10,000 mile Alaska trip. She was a great unit. Why did we upgrade in 2015? We learned about things we would like in the new trailer if we kept the RV lifestyle. In 2015 we found everything we could possible have wanted in a Montana and at the same time was able to get a fantastic deal on or new 3440RL. We are fortunate in this area with a great dealer and service department. The following is true, the salesman, Jim who got us into our first Montana in 2005 sold us our new 2015 3440RL! He knew us all those years obviously we were well satisfied with the sales and service .

We have had 6 hard side RV's .The first 4 were tag along used as recreational Vehicles for weekend camping and every once in a while a summer two week vacation. Living in Northern Ohio the camping season was Memorial day to labor day. They were all different brands and we had good luck with all of them.

The last two were Montana's starting in 2006 when Helen retired and we went on the road as long timers. We have traveled 100K miles Plus in that time and have never seen snow or cold weather in that time. We traveled more in the first year in our 06 3400 Montana than we did in 18 years in the four tag long's. We used the Montana's hard and lived in them for long periods of time. We had our share of problems but they served us well and were our Magic carpet to see this great country.

Started out camping about 50 years ago with the parents and the wife and I bought our first camper in 1997 Jayco TT and bought it new and traded for a 2000 Jayco TT, then a 2003 Montana 2955, then a 2006 3000RK Montana, then a 2010 3160 Montana, then a 2013 Landmark Full Body paint that was POS, then a 2015 3611RL Montana, and just today traded for a 2018 Montana 3791RD.

This is exactly what I was talking about in my original post.
I’m not judging nor criticizing. I just don’t get it.
Throwing all that money at something you only keep for two or three years.
I’m just a poor military retiree, more power to all the folks that can afford to do that.

Same situation but ours was a 2012 and we are very happy with our new 3791RD.

The shortest we ever had a Rv was a TT for a little over a year because it was a piece of crap. The longest a TT for 10 years. We pretty much wore our 06 3400 out from 2005 to 2013 and many, many miles. The decals were now falling off the RV and we figured if the frame flexed one more time it would fall off the RV and we were tired of replacing holding tanks. This 13 all things considered has been pretty good to us.

You seem to be worried about your wives 2 knee replacements. i have had total knee replacement done on both my knees. the first in 1998 and the other in 1999. They are still going strong. Better than when I was 35 and I am 74 now. The knees should last if you don't do a lot of high impact exercises like jogging. And I do mean a lot.
