GULF AREA MISSISSIPPI AND ALABAMA
Could any of our members recommend any campgrounds in the Gulf Mississippi and Alabama area Please. Don't really have to be on the beach 20 miles north is just fine. Thank You for your thoughts

We usually stay at Campgrounds of the South just north of I-10 off highway 49. Exit north on 49 and stay all the way to the right and take the first right into the shopping area. Drive past the Cracker Barrel and continue to the red light at Three rivers road. Take a left and go a few yard to the entrance of the CG.
There are a lot of construction workers there but they stay pretty quite.
The owner works at the base and is not there much so he may or may not respond to calls. At the office pick up a check in slip and pick out your campsite. Most all paved. Slide the slip with a check under the door with the campsite number. Full hookups with cable.
Shopping is with walking distance including a theater.
I would not go to Magnolia Campground.
We have also stayed at Baywood which is a nice wooded campground. Usually full.
Oh the old Casino Magic Casino is just open under a new name at Bay St Louis. It has a great campground. I have a nephew that works there. The pix in my signature was taken at that campground before Katrina.

John,
Gulf Shores, Alabama was super! We stayed at an RV park inland about a mile, really nice. I think it was Island Retreat RV Resort, it's a 9-8.5*-8.5 Not too shabby.
Are you and the missus on the road?
Drive safe.

We like Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, all new sites with full hook-ups since Hurrican Ivan destroyed the place a couple of years ago. Also Gulf Breeze just up 59 a few miles.

John, I hope Christa gets to feeling better. Going south before it gets too cold might be good for her.
