Carriage/Cameo
This may not be the right place but I can't find a topic that looks better.
The Redwood Division of Thor bought all of the intellectual property of Carriage at auction. That includes, website, brand names, phone #'s and although not mentioned, probably plans, customer lists etc. The price was $100,000. For a company (Thor) with 274 million in cash and no debt, petty cash drawer.
It will be interesting to see what they will do with the brand names.
"The Carriage RV Inc., intellectual property was acquired by towables manufacturer Redwood Residential Vehicles, a division of Thor Industries Inc., for $100,000.

I had heard that Carriage had went under and there was much concearn about warrenty work on these units. I wonder if Thor will have to honor those claims. I guess that will up to a bunch of lawyers.

Since they purchaed the name and the brand name was well respected my guess is we will see it again. Same quality will be another story.

Buying assets but not liabilities excuses the buyer from having to deal with warranty work. In this case Thor bought an asset of the company through BK, but not the company, nor their liabilities.

The only problem they'll have if they play it that way will be that those names will be mud in the RV community and word of mouth is a big part of RV sales. It would be like someone bringing the Studebaker brand back. Not a lot of takers right of the bat.

The Redwood Fifth Wheel line is very nice, and designed for full time living. We saw several of the floorplans and all three paint schematics at the Tampa RV show. All three were listed at 110-115K with show prices in the high 90s. Weights were in the 13-14.5K dry range. Comparing a Montana to a Redwood, difficult for us to justify the increased price for what you get
