Running afoul of the forum police

I have to ask

How does discussing a POTENTIAL class action lawsuit or build quality of Montana in general terms violate the rules of the forum? This seems like the ideal forum to do so. It’s not like any of us would be offended because we WORK for Keystone.

As long as we are not discussing an ACTUAL in progress lawsuit I don’t see the issue??

I don't know were to find it but I know there is a "mission statement" for the Forum.If posting about build quality in general I would have been off the forum years ago.

Jim and Ron,

Most of the MOC is supportive of having rules and moderators enforcing them. I assume in some cases where posts are removed or blocked they have been reported by another member. Relook the rules - no weapons, political or religious discussions. Also continually raising the same issue in multiple posts is not expected.

We have a good forum and want to keep it friendly. If you don't like the rules there are other forums out there.

FYI. I wasn’t the OP of the thread and could not understand why it would be deleted unless the moderator who did so was trying to protect Keystone

A simple explanation (not just saying “read the rules” would have been benificial.

Be mindful of yourself and others. This forum is not a democracy; it is privately owned and we make the rules. If rules are violated we retain the right at our discretion to remove, edit or delete posts and if necessary ban or remove members. Any abuse toward our staff may/will result in immediate suspension of your account.

If this is the post you are referring to it does not appear to be deleted. They just shut down new posts. I do not know why but it does seem pretty repetitive. It may have been objected to by a member? No it wasn't me and I have no association with Montana other than being an owner.

There are a lot of negative posts that are left up for everyone to see and comment on and they are appropriate to tell the full story of our brand.

If it isn't it should be. The forum has been a private entity from the beginging.

This site is not affiliated with Keystone or Montana and we don't "protect" RV manufacturers. The site is independently run and the moderators are volunteers

You agreed to them when you joined and we take them seriously. You are a GUEST here and while most topics are fair game, where they wander into legal-land we close them. There are a number of reasons for this.

• We have no way to ascertain the veracity of the claims .
• Posting accusations generally results in either the other party or their lawyers showing up to dispute them and the forum gets dragged into the middle.
• Businesses are vulnerable to claims of bad practices or products by folks who are mad. While there are surely instances where the customer is right, there are cases where the customer is unreasonable. These claims can badly damage the reputation of a company and remain on the internet long after the immediate issue is resolved.

We have a few other rules you may want to pay attention to:

• The discussion of politics and religion is prohibited. There are plenty of good sites to have those discussions but we are an RV forum .
• Complaints about moderation: Not in forum posts. If you have a concern about moderation send a private message but we are NOT going to discuss moderator actions and what interactions a member may have had with a moderator publicly - it's not everyones business and breech of our privacy agreement with each member. It's also a distraction for the community.
• Trolling - not acceptable

This thread is being closed. If you have further concerns contact a moderator. We work hard to keep the community helpful and fun. The site rules run a little long but they basically say:

• Be nice
• Be helpful
• Be reasonable
