Insurance

Hi everyone, just a quick question. does anyone belong to Good Sam and if so do any of you use their Good Sam VIP insurance by GMAC ins. and if so how do you like it? They keep sending me these flyers and I am thinking of changeing carriers, mine is getting too expensive. I would appreciate any response. Thanks in advance Tom n Phyllis

Tom and Phyllis -- You may want to do a search on this topic. I know this has been previously discussed in detail for I asked a similar question couple months back. We were looking for insurance options when we took delivery of our new Monty. Good luck.

We got a quote from them once but their answer was considerably higher than what we pay through National Interstate (Montana and fulltimers insurance) and Progressive (for the truck). That may not be true for everyone else, though.

Tom n Phyllis,
We are members of Good Sam club. Being a member entitles you to a discount at Good Sam parks and a monthly magazine called Highways.
I do not have their GMAC insurance, got a quote twicw and both times they were too high. Progressive insures our Montana...being a new trailer, we have the full replacement cost for five years which costs a bit more.

http://www.nationalinterstate.com is the url. This is the first time I've looked at the website. There's an 'rv insurance' button that takes you to a list of coverages. Of the optional coverages we have the Disappearing Deductible, Total Loss Replacement, Fulltimers Coverage, Personal Effects, and I think we have the Campsite Liability Protection (can't remember that name).

There are other good insurance companies, too. This one just happened to have the best deal for us.

I found that National was resonalable, shop around check with your home owners ins. and see what they offer.

I would like to thank you guys for the information on Thum insurance agency and National Interstate Insurance. I just recieved my [semi-annual] premium notice for the Monty from the company I have my home owners with $521.00. I requested a quote from Thum last night via their web site. I received a reply today, $424 annually, way under half and the coverage is better. Needless to say I just got off the phone with Thum and I have purchased a policy with Nationl Interstate and for an additionl $50 roadside assistance policy. They were very friendly on the phone, I just hope I never have to use them
