Vinyl Moulding
What is the best way to clean the vinyl moulding on the exterior. Mine has black spots which looks like mold stains. I have tried bleach, black streak remover, rubbing compound. Nothing works. any suggestions?

You might try hydrogen peroxide, It took some blue/black bird poo stains out of the end cap of my Monty. It might work for the moulding.

A body repair shop person told us that it is easier to replace that molding and it is not that expensive. He showed us how easy it is to pull it out and put back in. We are thinking of doing just that one of these days. It sure is hard to clean.

I've had good luck with a Bleach Pen that you can buy in laundry departments. Rub it on, let it sit for a while then go back and scrub with a 3M-type scouring pad (white ones are usually light duty). If all else fails, it is not too hard or costly to just replace them with new inserts from Camping World etc.

I agree with replacing it - very easy. A screw at the top and bottom and a little caulk at the top over the screw. The molding will eventually get brittle and break in the hail or when a stone hits it just right.

Thanks to all. I tried the Mr. Clean Eraser. It did a good job with a lot of rubbing. I can tell it's going to take a lot of them. I might look at replacing it, haven't thought of that. Thanks again.

We too use the Clorox bleach pens. It works really good but the Mr. Clean eraser is also a great idea.

I spent the last couple of days replacing mine. I purchased the vinyl inserts at Camping World for $5.00 a 25' roll. While I was at it, I also removed all the screws, cleaned off any rust around them and replaced them with stainless. I also put a spot of silicone in each screw hole before I put the new screws in. This should keep out any moisture that might otherwise get in. It is a little work! My thumb and index fingers are a little sore, but the new vinyl looks marvelous!!

Just bought a product at a seminar here at the FCRV rally in Mobile. Ole Rich of course challanged the products effectivness. After the seminar the vendor came over to my camper and cleaned the vinyl molding as well as the camper next door. We bought 2 bottles.it beats awesome;
It is: Micro Power http://www.organicpowerproducts.com/
Thanks Rick...

I have used brillo pads on it with surprisingly good results. It is not so abrasive that it hurts the moulding and does get it mostly clean. Of course, it does take some good, old fashioned elbow grease as well!
