Waste tank outlet valve

Looking for your collective experience.
The standard waste tank system has a twist-on cap at the outlet of the system.
So, to drain your tanks you would first remove the cap.
Hmmmm so if the last time the system was used, if one of the main valves were slightly open, you would be greeted with a volume of waste fluid.
I am wondering if something like this would solve that problem
Camco 39085 Rhino Blaster Sewer Tank Rinser with Gate Valve

https://www.amazon.com/Camco-39085-R.../dp/B00T36LJF2

To be effective it would need to me attached all the time.

Questions
1) Do you have an alternate suggestion.
2) Would the Camco unit stay on while driving?

thanks for reading this.

Buy a Valterra gate valve. It goes on with a twist and can be capped using original cap. I have always left mine on during travel without any issues!

This is a must do, as the cable operated valves do NOT securely close to stop leakage like the Valterra brand gate valve does.

The Valterra twist on gate valve is essential. The Rhino Blaster comes with it. The Rhino will not stop valve leakage or make the leakage any cleaner. It will backwash the two grey tanks.

Most folks I know use them. Some drive a screw in to hold them in place during travel. My solution was to install straight threaded rod pulls to replace the cable driven. No leakage. I still hook up using a twist on valve, for ease of dumping.

Hi Guys:

For the past 13 years of full timing we have used the Vaterra Flush King. Attaches easily to sewer outlet, allows you to see what you are dumping and secures liquid in sewer pipe even if you have a leak from internal gate valves. No more surprises when you take the cap off your screw outlet. Happy trails.

After looking at the Rhino part you posted link too, I`m thinking if you already have the "power flush" setup already built into your unit, why go with the Rhino one? The Rhino part will make your gate valve hang downward closer to ground, wheras the standard Valterra valve keeps your connection where its currently located, with no change in clearance to ground.

When I removed the swing out dump line I installed a permanent Valtera valve in the line just in case.[IMG][/IMG]

Any of the previous suggestions will work. Bottom line, an extra valve will save you grief some day.

Same here. It's not if but when will your valves leak. This is a life saver. I don't recommend not fixing the valves when leaking, especially the black tank as it will then go dry but this makes it easier to deal with until you get home and can correct the situation.

I have a Montana and a Cougar. We travel in the Couger and the drain pipes are very close to level and are very slow to drain. If the unit is slightly off level the wrong way when draining the pipes don't drain completely. Having an unpleasant experience enough times I installed a cap with a gray water spout. To that I connected a simple "end of hose shotoff" and replaced the hose bib cap. When I now drain I have the hose all set up, I take the small cap off, hold the 3" drain hose in the position to catch the small amount in the cap and open the little valve. When that has completed draining I close the little valve, carefully remove the 3" cap put the hose on in the normal matter and precede to dump. Sounds overwhelming when reading (inagine typing all this on my tablet) but it takes barely longer than skipping the sanitary way.

I have the model 3402rl. Does anyone know if both valves are 3'' which I suspect are and will the 72'' cable work for both black and gray tank. My black water tank is further away than the gray and want to make sure the 72'' cable is sufficient.
